• Governor's budget recommendations introduced
• MCCTF responds to Governor's State of the State and budget recommendations

February

• MCCTF continues to respond to State of the State and budget recommendations via letters and email
• Budget hearings begin
• MCCTF attends hearings, testifies

March

• Parenting Awareness Month

April

• Month of the Young Child
• Budgets pass first legislative chamber and move to second chamber
• Worthy Wage activities

May

• Budgets begin to go to conference committees
• MCCTF sends thank-you letters to legislators who have supported MCCTF positions

June

• School district elections (a few occur in November)
• Budget conference committee reports begin to be passed and sent to the Governor
• Marathon legislative sessions -- beware of things that go "bump" in the night

July

• Budget processes finish in legislature
• Budget planning begins for October 1 next year (see detailed budget process)
• Summer recess begins

August

• Budgets are signed (usually with line item vetoes) by the Governor

September

• Legislature returns from summer recess
• MCCTF raises children's issues in state and local elections
• Old fiscal year ends

October

• New fiscal year begins
• MCCTF raises children's issues in state and local elections

November

• Federal, state, and local (as well as a few school district) elections are held, depending on the year

December

• Michigan Kids Count data is released
• Marathon legislative sessions -- beware of things that go "bump" in the night
• Legislature adjourns sine die
